Showroom Snapshot
Rounded, plush foliage with biscuit-like geometry and crisp, chalk-white vein lines. In medium size, Dorayaki delivers immediate presence—broad plates, sturdy petioles, and a composed silhouette that reads clean in living rooms or studios.
Proportions & Build
- Botanical: Anthurium ‘Dorayaki’ (velvet hybrid)
- Habit: self-supporting rosette; measured spacing between leaves for a tidy profile
- Surface: velvety matte lamina over deep olive/forest tones; luminous vein tracery
- Interior scale (medium): typically ~35–60 cm (14–24 in) overall height
- Pet guidance: stage beyond curious nibblers
Light & Atmosphere
- Prefers softened brightness—north exposure, bright shade, or morning rays behind a sheer.
- Screen harsh noon beams to protect the velvet nap and keep linework razor-sharp.
- Enjoys room humidity around 55–70% RH with gentle air movement; aim for 20–27 °C (68–81 °F).
Water & Root Zone
- Hydration rhythm: re-water when the upper layer of mix feels dry; saturate fully, then let runoff exit—no standing water.
- Substrate: open, oxygen-rich matrix—orchid bark + pumice/perlite + coco chips; a light sphagnum accent for buffering.
- Seat the crown slightly high in the mix to discourage basal wetness.
Nutrition & Upkeep
- Feed a balanced formula at ¼–½ strength during active months; taper as growth eases.
- Rotate the planter every couple of weeks for even presentation.
- Dust leaves gently so the veinwork stays bright and readable.
Placement & Styling
Set on a low console or stand so the circular plates sit near eye level. Matte or stone planters echo the velvet surface; pair with glossy aroids for a curated material contrast (matte vs shine).
Set-In Notes
Begin in tempered light and step brightness up across 10–14 days. New flushes typically arrive with the roundest plates and the crispest vein contrast.
