Collector’s Index
A refined heart-leaf anthurium with thick, sculpted blades and luminous vein lines. ‘Norte’ reads crisp and modern on a compact footprint—perfect for shelves, consoles, and studio corners that need quiet structure.
Key Traits
- Botanical: Anthurium ‘Norte’ (velvet/semigloss selection)
- Habit: poised rosette; leaves carried on sturdy, evenly spaced petioles
- Blade: broad cordate plates; satin-to-velvet surface; bright midrib and primaries
- Interior reach: typically ~35–60 cm (14–24 in) under steady routines
- Pet note: stage beyond curious nibblers
Light Map
Ambient brightness is ideal—soft northern light, bright shade, or morning sun behind a sheer. Screen hard midday rays to protect the surface finish and keep the veinwork high-contrast.
Water & Root Zone
Hydrate after a light dryback on the top layer; flush through and let runoff exit completely (no standing water).
Substrate: open, oxygen-forward mix—orchid bark + pumice/coarse perlite + coco chips with a light sphagnum accent. Seat the crown slightly proud of the mix to discourage basal moisture.
Climate & Air
Comfort band sits around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) with room-range humidity (~55–70%). Gentle airflow keeps edges tidy and helps plates cure firm.
Nutrition & Upkeep
Feed a balanced formula at ¼–½ strength during active months; taper as growth slows. Quarter-turn the planter every couple of weeks for even presentation. Dust leaves lightly so the linework stays luminous.
Placement Cues
Matte or stone planters echo the leaf texture; setting the plant at near-eye level lets the heart shape and vein geometry read from across the room.
Set-In Notes
Start in cushioned light and step brightness up over 10–14 days. New flushes typically arrive with the cleanest edges and the clearest tracing.
